Well-wishers sent off 27 climbers who plan to summit Mount Kilimanjaro with Trek4Mandela, a Mandela Day initiative set up to help young women in rural South Africa. It is the fourth year of the campaign.

Blankets and soup will help to keep the cold at bay this winter, delivered by Miss South Africa Liesl Laurie and Sun International's Maslow Hotel. The mobile soup kitchen will pop up through the coldest month.
