Johannesburg, Friday 25 October 2013 – Brand South Africa, will join Transnet Freight Rail and the Methodist Church of Southern Africa, in hosting a Career Exhibition for young people in Diepsloot on Saturday 26 October 2013.
The Exhibition will profile job opportunities for young people in the fields of mathematics, science and technology. Approximately 5000 high school learners as well as unemployed matriculants and graduates will also receive information to prepare themselves for higher education institutions and the workplace
The exhibition follows President Jacob Zuma’s commitment in his 2013 State of the Nation Address that stakeholders will strengthen South Africa’s mathematics, science and technology strategy in line with the intention to build a knowledge economy.
The Exhibition will also highlight to importance of providing the correct information to young people that will help them with their studies and careers in future.
Brand South Africa CEO Miller Matola said, “The current generation of young people will soon drive the implementation of Vision 2030. It is therefore crucial for us to ensure they receive the correct tools so they can be skilled and properly educated to be equal to the task. We invite young people to play their part by attending the event in Diepsloot on 26 October and interact with experts who will be playing their part to provide you with the information you need to make the best choices you can for your future.”
It is expected that Minister in the Presidency for Performance Monitoring and Evaluation Collins Chabane and Transnet Freight Rail CEO Siyabonga Gama will address a media briefing, to co-incide with the Exhibition.
