The Limpopo branch of the South African Local Government Association (Salga) has condemned, in “the strongest possible terms”, the recent wave of xenophobic attacks in different parts of the country.
Salga Limpopo provincial chairperson Mogobo David Magabe has called on all stakeholders to support a campaign against the spate of violence.
“The world is looking at us and the recent incidents have a high and negative impact in derailing what has been achieved in the local government sector because they happen in the local government space,” Magabe said in a statement. “This has a bearing in terms of local government stability.
Magabe said the attacks were not welcome because “we want peaceful communities”.
