Play your part and celebrate Freedom Fridays

Johannesburg, Thursday 13 February 2014 –Brand South Africa encourages all South Africans to celebrate Freedom Fridays as part of the countdown to the 20 years of freedom commemorations, at Eastgate Mall on Friday 14 February 2014.

Freedom Fridays is jointly hosted by Lead SA, in partnership with Brand South Africa, Proudly SA, the Department of Arts and Culture and the Government Communication and Information System aimed at encouraging South Africans to celebrate our freedom and democracy.

Brand South Africa CEO Miller Matola said, “I urge you all to play your part and show your love for our country by celebrating Freedom Fridays.  Please participate in the event at Eastgate Mall on Friday 14 February 2014. If you cannot be with us, do something that shows your South Africanness.”

South Africans can also share thoughts, memories and pictures of freedom, through the 20 years of freedom website:www.20yearsoffreedom.org.za

South Africans are also invited to visit interactive experiential zones in malls nationwide (see the list below) as well as at OR Tambo International Airport and share their personal stories of what freedom and democracy means to them.

The experiential zones in malls include an Express your Freedom location where South Africans can write on graffiti boards, a collection of which will be on display during the official ceremony marking the anniversary of our freedom, on 27th April 2014.
