Students In Free Enterprise Mangosuthu University of Technology

  SIFE is an international non-profit organization that works with leaders in business and higher education to mobilize university students to make a difference in their communities while developing the skills to become socially responsible business leaders. Students form teams on campus and apply business concept to develop outreach project that improve the quality of life and standard of living for people in need by, educating people on concepts like marketing economics, entrepreneurship and create sustainability in their business. SIFE Mangosuthu University of technology is currently working with the Enduduzweni Centre, a skills development centre established under the mandate of Department of Social Development to cater for people with disabilities. The centre provides a residential care facility and a protective workshop, and focuses on equipping people with disabilities with skills to stabilize their lives and sustain their own businesses. We currently having difficulties to secure sponsorship for such projects, so far we have four projects that need sponsorship to start and maintain their enterprises. We also have been approached by a NPO called Umlazi Social Development to assist them in starting a small farming enterprise to support students in the Umbelebele High School that are either orphans or have financial problems at home their for failing to secure a single meal during school hour. One other projects that we struggling with is the Masakhe Impilo Co-op which is project for the physically challenged people who are trying to start a cane making furniture company without an financial assistance, business knowledge and a proper working facilities.
