Masifunde Learner Development

Masifunde is a Non Profit Organisation based in the Walmer Township in Port Elizabeth.

We currently train over 200 motivated and talented learners to become bringers of change and active role models in their community. In all our activities we consider youth as neither victims nor as perpetrators but as a solution to social challenges.

We utilize an all embracing training process which focuses on personality building, life skill training, academic support as well as extra-curricular activities.

Over 200 children and youth take part in “Learn4Life!”, a life skills training programme that is the core of Masifunde’s work. The programme imparts knowledge which is necessary in day to day life situations ranging from health, business or environmental topics to social skills and personal development.

46 learners are sponsored with high quality education at former model C schools outside the township and with individual one-on-one support in our daily Homework Club. We provide High quality school education from pre-school to grade 12 and full school participation through payment of school fees, outings, uniforms, stationary, transport and extra classes.

Needs: For the next school term of our 46 sponsored children we need school satchels, sports bags, pencil cases, notepads and stationary sets including pens, pencils, rubbers, rulers, highlighters, scientific calculator and maths sets.
Our centre in Walmer Township, Xolelanani Youth Centre where all our programmes are taking place, needs renovations. You could also support our yearly summer camp, to which all participants of “Learn4Life!“ go as a reward for good performance during the school year. For the summer camp we need help with transport, food, stationary and accomodation.
