Identifying future talent – paying it forward

In 2001 I’ve passed my matric at Indwe High School situated in the small Township in Mossel Bay known as Kwanonqaba, I knew that the only way to change the situation we were in at home was through furthering my studies.

At home we had no money, but that never stopped me from dreaming, in 2002 I went to Cape Town in search for a tertiary institution, all I had under my name was an amount of R200 on my arrival not knowing where to start.

I was assisted by a stranger which is a friend to me at the moment, and I manage to be admitted but had no money for registration – my former Principal gave me the registration fee of R1 250 and that is all I needed. At that time, I didnt worry about food, travelling, books or tuition – all I needed was an entry and he did that for me.

Now I want to do the same for someone like me in my previous school, I want to recruit a needy student and assist that person to achieve her or his dreams, I’ve been waiting for the time that I will have enough money, but have realised I can share what I have with someone doesnt matter how small it is – to somebody out there it might be big.
