South African information technology company Datatec is to acquire British business intelligence software provider Inca Software from its parent company, Avisen plc, for £7.3-million (about R82-million).
According to Datatec, the acquisition creates one of the first UK systems integrators capable of delivering the full suite of next-generation business transformation tools: analytics, collaboration and cloud computing.
“This acquisition opens up a new stream of expertise in analytics to Logicalis’ customers, and will give it a unique and compelling proposition,” Datatec CEO Jens Montanana said in a statement this week.
“By combining Logicalis’ expertise in collaboration and cloud computing with Inca’s expertise in business analytics, Logicalis will be able to help its customers to become smarter organisations.”
The acquisition will be carried out by Datatec subsidiary Logicalis, which is headquartered in the UK. Logicalis will pay £6-million on completion of the transaction and £1.3-million one year later, as well as assume £0.7-million of debt.
Inca’s interim results for the six months ended 31 July 2010 disclosed unaudited revenues of £4.3-million.
Inca is the largest and most successful IBM Cognos partner in the UK, providing customers with the full suite of IBM business analytics products and has implemented solutions for over 400 companies across all industry sectors.
“Both Logicalis and Inca are IBM Premier Partners so this acquisition also helps to strengthen this strategically important relationship,” Montanana said.
