It may be a case of when the cat’s around, the mice still have whale of a time, if a ‘best company to work for’ survey for 2004 is anything to go by.
The survey, conducted by Deloitte & Touche and the Financial Mail, has found that Microsoft SA rules the roost as far as employment satisfaction goes.
The wide-ranging survey placed a major emphasis on employees’ perspectives. It measured their views of change management, communication, diversity, job satisfaction, leadership, management information, policies, recognition and performance and training and development, amongst them.
Employee surveys counted for 75% of the companies’ score, employers 15% and 10% for the wider market, Moneyweb reports.
The publication reports that employers were judged on criteria such as employee welfare, pay ranges and special recognition awards. The wider market weight came from market questionnaires that were completed by executives, tertiary institutions and trade institutions.
According to Deloitte & Touche, by participating in the survey companies are able to benchmark themselves against competitors. They also get an opportunity to reassess their working environment, and set goals for improvement.
