South Africans can now test their own alcohol limits with ease using a disposable breathalyser. Redline Products, in partnership with Arrive Alive, manufactures the internationally certified disposable breathalyser.
Transport Minister Jeff Radebe has come out in support of Redline’s initiative to make the product available throughout South Africa to enable the public to test their own alcohol limits, as well as those of their staff or family.
Fatal accidents cost the country in the region of R8-billion a year, and many of them are caused by drunk driving. The Department of Transport is determined to reduce the country’s drink-and-drive and alcohol abuse statistics.
The breathalyser is easy to use – any green colour change indicates an alcohol level of 0.02 percent or more.
It has been approved by the governments of Australia, France and Germany – the only such product, according to Redline, to have received such approval – .
