The IMC is involved in a number of conferences and campaigns as a part of its marketing efforts. 2010 National Communications PartnershipThe hosting of the 2010 FIFA World Cup™ brings South Africa a unique opportunity that extends well beyond football: it offers the country and the continent a phenomenal marketing and communication opportunity. As world attention focuses on the first World Cup to be held in Africa, this is a chance for Africans to tell their own stories. The 2010 National Communication Partnership is a joint effort by communicators across society and from the many creative and communication disciplines in South Africa who want to take advantage of this opportunity to benefit the country and continent. International Media ForumThe International Marketing Council is a corporate sponsor of the International Media Forum, an annual gathering of media practioners, businesspeople and government where issues affecting the coverage of South Africa, both international and local, are discussed. More than 400 editors from around the world attended the World Editors' Forum and the World Congress of Newspapers in Cape Town in 2007, marking the highest attendance to the event so far. In 2008, the forum is to be held in Göteborg, Sweden. |
